How to plan the perfect trip to rural Italy
ask Festa Tours
Planning on visiting Umbria? where should you begin?
Even if this is your first trip to Italy, please be aware that it’s impossible to see everything you want in one trip! We advice to avoid planning to try to see too many sights in short time and minimize travel times between destinations.
Most of our guests visit Umbria to enjoy a a slow life rather than having to hurry from one famous monument to another.
They also visit Umbria to escape the queues and crowds in Rome, Venice, Florence and anything on the top 10 lists so popular on the travel press.
Use this page to help you get inspired and prepared for your upcoming trip.
You can build your own trip or ask us to craft it according to your preferences and budget. Se below how it works:
Pick and Choose
Start planning your journey today following these simple steps:
Note that quite a few of the visits available in the afternoon after our cooking classes are free or inexpensive!
2. To build your own, multi-day culinary vacation:
decide how many nights you wish to stay at Alla Madonna del Piatto Agriturismo
decide if you wish to drive on your own or hire a private driver and van
email your plan to us with dates and number of participants
We will calculate the total cost, confirm availability and send you a booking link to secure your reservation and pay a deposit.
After arrival you will receive a detailed itinerary, schedule and directions.
Trip Planning and Consulting
If you prefer to leave all the planning, logistics, transportation and gathering of information to us, we will be happy to craft a custom day-by-day itinerary for you. Here is how to proceed:
1. Please send us an email with the following information:
date and lenght of your visit
number of participants
transport (your own or driver)
special interest list: e.g. favorite sites you wish to visit
2. We will get back to you with an estimation of the total cost of the tour and trip planning fees.
3. Once you have accepted our proposal we will agree on a timeframe to build up your itinerary.
Please note that for travel planning we require a non refundable deposit of € 350 which will be discounted from your tour's final payment and will cover initial trip planning fees.
Our travel planning services are exclusively available to guest of Alla Madonna del piatto. We do not offer payment services nor booking of air tickets and rental cars. We do not generally plan trips outside of Umbria with the exception of day trips to Florence, Rome, Southern Tuscany and Le Marche.
What you need to know
The itinerary planning phase is based on 3 revisions. The initial consultation price is €350 per trip.
The first draft follows a one-on-one consultation, which includes a discussion about destination and activity favorites, reason behind travel (e.g. honeymoon), timetable and budget.
The second draft will be available upon booking and includes an initial proposal which can be revised according to your preferences.
The final draft is delivered before departure and includes the schedule and any logistic documents such as driving directions or pick up location for private transfer.
A print or PDfF of the final itinerary will be available after arrival at Alla Madonna del Piatto
What you need to know
For a complete, multi-day itinerary, including recommended sights, reservations of restaurants, tours and private transport the fee is custom to the trip. The fee is calculated based on the length of stay, number of destinations, activities and specific wishes.
