Olive Oil And Wine Tasting Tour
from €20/person plus transport
The picturesque winemaking area encompassing Montefalco, Cannara and Bevagna is blanketed by olive groves and vineyards. Your day starts with a visit of a small winery dedicated to growing the Sagrantino and Grechetto varietals.
You will be welcomed by a family member who will illustrate the region's rich history and special wines. For a small, additional fee, you have the option to visit the vineyards by horse and carriage.
This is unique opportunity to enjoy the relaxed pace and soak up the marvelous scenery as you are pulled by a pair of draft horses through the vineyards and idyllic country lanes.
Your next stop is a family-run olive oil mill producing the finest quality artisan olive oil. Experience the intense flavors of the world's oldest cultivated fruit and learn about the local olive varietals and how they are mixed to obtain oils with different flavors.
Winery visit and guided tasting of different varieties of red, white and rosè wine and light lunch with products of the farm.
Visit of family-run olive oil mill and tasting
At both farms you will have the opportunity to buy wines and olive oil and have them shipped back home.
The tour is available daily and can be extended to include sightseeing of several picturesque hill-towns located at a short distance from the winery and oil mill.
The horse and carriage tour is available with sunny and dry weather. Please make sure to wear comfortable shoes, to bring hats and your own bottle of water.
Monday to Saturday starting at 10:30 am.
Tour limited to 12 people, reservation required at least 2 days in advance.
11:00 Visit an organic Umbrian farm for a generous tasting of different wine varietals paired with locally produced meats, cheeses and bruschetta, enough for a light lunch. Take a stroll into the vineyards and make friends with the beautiful draft horses which are used to plow the land instead of tractors. The farm also hosts over 400 geese who keep the fields clean from weeds.
3.00 pm Make your second stop at a local olive oil mill with views of olive groves and vineyards. Here you will spend about an hour at the tasting table, sampling the freshest and most intense extra virgin olive oil. In October and November you will get to see how the olives are processed and taste just-pressed unfiltered oil.
4:30 pm Tour the nearby hill-towns of Bevagna, Montefalco and Spello or return to your accommodation.
