Cooking Class and Pottery Tour
Maiolica is an Italian earthenware with a polished glaze and colorful decoration which never fades or loses its beauty. Umbria, especially in Deruta, Gubbio, Orvieto and Gualdo Tadino, has been known for maiolica since the 13th century.
Take a cooking class with us then travel to some of the extraordinary maiolica studios in our region. We will be happy to advise about your visit, depending on interest, budget and timetable.
You will be able to learn about the history of the Umbrian pottery craft and the meaning of it's intricate decors. Shop to your heart content for one of a kind pieces available for your home and garden in an endless variety of shapes, color and sizes.

Monday to Saturday starting at 11:00 am.
Tour limited to 12 people, reservation required at least 2 days in advance.

11:00 am Arrive at Alla Madonna del Piatto Cooking School near Assisi. Enjoy a welcome drink and an introduction to the culture, history and culinary traditions of rural Umbria, then don your apron and start cooking.
1:30 pm Enjoy the 4 courses meal that you just created on our beautiful terrace overlooking Assisi.
3.30 pm Travel to one of the pottery centers of Umbria. Deruta is only 40 min drive from Alla Madonna del Piatto and offers the highest concentration of pottery workshops and variety of crafts at reasonable prices.
5:30 pm Return to your accommodation.
